Nancy Harmon, the renowned gospel singer and evangelist, passed away early this morning. Known for her powerful voice and unwavering commitment to ministry, she touched the lives of millions through her music and mentorship. Nancy Harmon Ministries shared the news in a heartfelt statement, expressing both sorrow and joy: "Although my heart is broken, what rejoicing is going on right now in the Heavenlies. Our beautiful Nancy Harmon made her home going this morning around 4 a.m. No more pain, no more Alzheimer, no more struggles… nothing but joy and peace."
Nancy Harmon's journey in gospel music began at just 10 years old when she started singing in her home church. By 19, she had organized her first choir and, at 28, dedicated her life to evangelism by founding The Victory Voices. Over the decades, she became a pioneer in gospel music and ministry, earning the admiration of peers such as Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart.
Nancy’s influence extended beyond churches to schools, street corners, and homes of unwed mothers. She launched The Love Special Telecast with TBN in 1974 and continued her ministry by training youth for their personal ministries. More than 1,700 young men and women, who affectionately called her “Mamma Nancy,” stood on her platform, with many now serving in full-time ministries.
Tributes have poured in from friends, colleagues, and admirers inspired by her unwavering faith and dedication. Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart reflected on her impact, saying, “I have known Nancy Harmon for as long as I can remember. She would come to our crusades and visited the office on several occasions as far back as the early ’80s. She had an incredible voice and gift for writing music, not matched by many others of our day and time. Her ministry to young people saw thousands of lives changed over the years because of her faithfulness and selflessness. The Kingdom of God will miss her here on earth, but she is suffering no more and singing on the streets of Glory.”
Joey Hampy, another admirer, highlighted her lifelong dedication: “Nancy Harmon is one of few people that I can truthfully say ‘left nothing on the field.’ She gave everything she had for the One who gave ALL.”
As the community mourns her loss, Nancy Harmon's legacy of faith, music, and mentorship will continue to inspire future generations.
