Officials have identified the victim of a crash that occurred Sunday morning in Susquehanna County as 20-year-old Charles Mordent. According to state police, Mordent succumbed to his injuries following the crash, which took place around 10 a.m.
The accident happened when Mordent and another pedestrian were loading logs into the driver’s side of a utility trailer parked on the right shoulder of Creek Road in Lenox Township, facing south. A southbound vehicle struck both men while they were working. Both individuals were transported to the hospital; unfortunately, Mordent passed away from his injuries, while the second pedestrian was treated for moderate injuries.
Charles Mordent, born in Scranton, PA, was the son of Joseph and Rebecca Galloway Mordent. He graduated from Mountain View High School and completed the carpentry program at the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center (SCCTC) at Elk Lake.
Charles is survived by a large and loving family, including his grandparents, James and Wilma Galloway; three brothers, James, Stephen, and his twin Derrick; his girlfriend, Clarissa Muzzy; special aunts and uncles Ralph and Judy Welch, Ann Marie Aylesworth, David and Patty Derrick, Steve and Carol Galloway; and cousins Jessica, Ashlee, Marissa, Breanna, and Brian. His extended family, including many other aunts, uncles, and cousins, also mourns his loss.
This tragic incident has left the community and Charles's family in deep sorrow. He is remembered for his vibrant spirit and dedication to his work and loved ones. The sudden loss of such a young and promising life has deeply affected those who knew and loved him, and they are coming together to support each other through this difficult time.
