Two killed in Fort Walton Beach motorcycle crash after colliding with cinder block mailbox

 



Early Thursday morning, a tragic motorcycle accident claimed the lives of Scott Morris and Elizabeth Fletcher, both 28 years old, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The collision occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Brooks Street SE and Waynel Circle SE. Morris, a resident of Destin, and Fletcher, from Valparaiso, were riding east on Brooks Street when they crashed into a cinder block mailbox. The impact caused the motorcycle to burst into flames.


According to a statement released by the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, officers arrived at the scene promptly and managed to extinguish the fire. They attempted to administer aid to both Morris and Fletcher, who were found lying on the ground. Unfortunately, Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. Fletcher was urgently transported to Florida HCA Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, but despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.


The Fort Walton Beach Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash. They are examining various aspects, including the possibility of mechanical failure or external factors that might have contributed to this fatal accident.
