At approximately 5:24 a.m., ECSO deputies received an emergency call that led them to the 3500 block of Flint Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Criddle suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Medical Center Hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.


Authorities quickly apprehended 27-year-old Anthony Bernardino Cortez Manarite at the scene. A firearm believed to be involved in the shooting was also recovered. During an interrogation, Manarite reportedly confessed to shooting Criddle; however, the specifics of the motive behind the shooting are still under investigation. ECSO had initially withheld the identities of those involved until they could notify family members and complete preliminary investigative steps.
